NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Jason and Angela White use an ultra-classic Harley Davidson motorcycle to help spread awareness about an issue that reaches far past their home state of Ohio.
“Not all veterans’ battles or their wounds are visible. The mental battles of a veteran are a little bit different. If we help one veteran it’s all been worth it,” said Angela.
With Jason being an Army veteran, the Whites say they know from experience.
The U.S Department of Veteran Affairs estimated at least 22 veterans per day committed suicide in 2010, but that’s based off data from only 21 states, not including Texas.
The Whites say that number alone made them want to spread the word across 22 states, in 22 days. Thursday’s stop was the Lumberjack Harley Davidson in Nacogdoches.
