LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Harrison Rd. bridge over the Red Cedar River on Michigan State University's campus will be completely closed for repairs starting Monday, June 9, the City of East Lansing announced Thursday.

Work to replace the bridge deck began in May, though one half of the bridge remained open to traffic. However, the city recently discovered "critical structural issues" in the high-pressure steam system near the bridge deck, requiring emergency repair.

To finish all necessary repairs and reopen the bridge at the same time the city originally planned, the bridge will be completely shut down to allow the work to be completed.
