DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- The Valley View former junior high building is one step closer to demolition.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced nearly $60 million in funding for brownfield remediation across the state on Thursday. This included funding to demolish the former Valley View Junior High building.

The Montgomery County Land Bank received $826,145 in grant money to cleanup the property, including asbestos abatement, universal waste removal and demolishing two former school buildings totaling more than 42,000 square feet.

The school district shared the news via social media Thursday, explaining this is another step toward demolition. There is no current timeline of when the property will be demolished.

Valley View students and staff recently moved into a new K-12 building in December 2024.
