MOORHEAD — Moorhead goaltender Zak Devig hurled his equipment into the air as the final horn sounded, motioned to his teammates on the Spuds’ sideline and soon became lost in a swarm of white jerseys.
The top-seeded Spuds defeated No. 3 St. Michael-Albertville 6-3 in the Minnesota Section 8 boys lacrosse championship on Thursday at Jim Gotta Stadium.
“It feels great,” Devig said. “I’ve won two here now, so I’ve been here before. Love this team. We worked hard for it.”
Moorhead advances to the Minnesota boys lacrosse state tournament for the fifth consecutive year. The Spuds will open quarterfinal play on Tuesday, June 10, at Eden Prairie High School.
