SPOKANE, Wash. — Drivers in Spokane should prepare for delays on North Newport Highway/US 2 as city water department crews begin repairs on an underground water main starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 5.
The work will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction and continue overnight into Friday, June 6. The repairs are expected to be completed by midday Friday.
The city says the southbound morning commute between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Friday is expected to be significantly impacted, and drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes such as North Division Street and US 395 or North Nevada Street to avoid congestion.
Lane reductions will begin Thursday night.
