FOX5 Investigates Scam Alert: Opt out of a masterclass on identity theft

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Cybercriminals are looking to give students, teachers, and administrators a masterclass in identity theft.

It starts with an email claiming to be from your school, college, or university. It tells you to scan a QR code to update your contact information, check your benefits, or apply for an opportunity. Scanning the code takes you to a Google Form that you’re instructed to fill out.

You might not notice an issue, because Google Forms are so common in educational settings, but this one is a fake! Filling it out means handing over all your sensitive information to scammers in one convenient package.
