A Leicester street is set for new traffic rules ahead of a new school opening. Parking restrictions are on the cards for Garland Crescent, in Beaumont Leys .
The restrictions would extend the existing ban on stopping which is in place near the street’s southern junction with Groby Road. Leicester City Council said the restrictions would protect the entrance and pedestrian crossing point outside of the new 1,200-place secondary school which is to open there.
The new buildings, on a former allotment site next to Stokeswood Park, will replace the Brook Mead School currently operating in St Augustine Road, near the Rally. It was approved by the council in 2023, and will be run by The Mead Education Trust (TMET).
