SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Despite the weather, Siouxlanders gathered together Thursday to showcase their pride.

The Siouxland Pride Alliance hosted its Pride Parade on Thursday to kick off Pride month.

The route started at 4th and Iowa Streets and traveled to 4th and Nebraska Streets.

Flags, balloons, beads, and candy filled 4th Street. Even with the rain, there were plenty of parade goers.

One organizer says it’s important to have an event like this in Sioux City.

“It’s okay, it’s okay to be who you are. You need to celebrate yourself and celebrate your friends. And this is just a month to celebrate who you are. Regardless of who that is,” said Karen Mackey.
