SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - “Sister cities” are partnerships between two cities anywhere in the world.

The goal is to share cultures.

Sioux City has three sister cities. Lake Charles, Louisiana, Gjilan, Kosovo, and Yamanashi City, Japan.

One local band will represent Sioux City in Japan this summer. “It ties the world together that might otherwise happen by chance,” said “Prairie” bass player, Bill Julius.

It wasn’t chance that brought the band “Prairie” together. The group formed less than a year ago with the intention of sharing its musical talent with one of Sioux City’s sister cities, Yamanashi City, Japan. “For those of use that have been there and they here, it has broadened our horizons immensely. It does a whole lot for your soul,” said “Prairie” keyboard player, Gene Ambroson.
