LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) -- After around five years, the proposed amphitheater project has come back into discussion for Longview's City Council.

A work session meeting was held to hear from the project's lead, Steve Powers.

"It's a really good opportunity to bring lots of excitement, some jobs, and you know, cool facilities," Red Cat Projects' Steve Powers said.

The proposed project would sit right off 1-20 and create an outdoor amphitheater with a 10,000 person capacity. In a presentation to the city council, Powers said it could host over 30 concerts per year and also employ more than 200 local people.

"The location is what the key is here," Powers said. "Just being on I-20, you're right outside the radius clause for Dallas."
