SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The No. 2 Wall High School baseball team was looking for the second state championship in program history on Thursday, and Thrall didn't stand a chance.
The Hawks took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and it was 5-1 after two at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
And then things really got out of hand for the Tigers, as Wall exploded with seven runs in the fourth and two in the fifth on its way to a convincing 14-2 blowout that ended after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Wall finished 31-6, and Thrall finished 31-7-1.
Hawks pitcher Gage Reichenau allowed just three hits and struck out five against three walks.
Meanwhile, the Hawks collected 17 hits.
