The City of Columbia held its first community engagement block party Thursday.

City leaders like the City Manager De’carlon Seewood, Columbia Regional Airport Manager Mike Parks, and representatives from utilities, parks and recreation, police and fire departments, and more were in attendance.

“It’s just really an opportunity to hear from our residents,” De’carlon Seewood said.

The party featuring food, games and music was held at Gordon Shelter at Stephens Lake Park. People were dancing and playing games while others were talked to city staff.

“There are a lot of people doing at the present time a lot of good things and I want to see where their actions are going to, or if they are going to progress Columbia into a more positive light,” Ustan Matthews, a Columbia resident, said.
