WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

The mayor of West Sacramento said the city has been hitting home runs with Major League Baseball now on its side of the river. Martha Guerrero gave her annual state of the city update in front of city staff and stakeholders at City Hall Thursday.

"We're not just growing. We're growing with purpose and passion, and we're doing it together," she said.

West Sacramento is having a moment.

"It's a great feeling to see all this. All of us come together to celebrate what has happened in this last year and what's coming in the years ahead," Guerrero said.

She touted the teamwork it takes to bring a major league baseball team to Sutter Health park, including the support of San Francisco Giants minor league team, the River Cats.
