The British Soap Awards have made a triumphant return after a year's hiatus, with the ceremony airing on Thursday night.

However, the event isn't live. The star-studded ceremony featuring beloved actors from Emmerdale, EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks took place on Saturday 31 May with BBC's EastEnders emerging victorious.

While there were many touching moments, including tearful stars, heartfelt speeches and abundant applause, there were also behind-the-scenes incidents that didn't make it to the screen. These include a delayed start to the ceremony, a boisterous crowd, multiple retakes, and even a warning from host Jane McDonald to the soap stars present after one acceptance speech ran particularly long.
