Pollution citations issuing increase

The Mexicali Police Department Ecological Unit has reported a significant increase in the number of citations issued to individuals for environmental violations over the past year.

From January to May 2024, the Ecological Unit of the Municipal Police issued a total of 3,488 violations in Mexicali. In comparison, from January 1 to May 25 of this year, that number rose to 4,310 fines. This increase highlights the police's ongoing commitment to working with the community in eradicating activities that threaten the environment and public health. To support this effort, the Ecological Police have enhanced their surveillance and patrol operations, the police said.
