Logan was called out on strikes for the final out with the tying run at third base on Thursday as the Wildcats lost to Philip Barbour, 6-5, at GoMart Ballpark in the WVSSAC Class AA state baseball tournament semifinals on Thursday night.
The punchout cut short a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning as Logan was trying to eliminate a three-run deficit. Instead, Colts pitcher Grant Harris got the strikeout on a 3-2 pitch to give Philip Barbour its first win in the state tournament.
“Grant Harris just battled, and for a senior to go out there and lead his team right there, that’s huge,” Colts coach Jonathan Carpenter said.
Harris pitched two innings of relief for Colts starter Kale Wolfe. Wolfe kept Logan at bay through five innings, giving up five hits, three runs – two earned – with
