Mooresville High tight end Gavin Barber has committed to Appalachian State.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound rising senior announced his college choice Wednesday on social media.
“1000% COMMITTED to @AppState_FB,” Barber wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Barber starred in the receiving game as well as a blocker for the Blue Devils last fall when they won their third straight Greater Metro Conference championship, advanced to the third round of the 4A state playoffs and finished 11-2 overall.
As a junior, he made 30 receptions for 490 yards and nine touchdowns.
Barber is expected to be a key figure in Mooresville’s projected success in 2025, when the Blue Devils move to 7A under the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s new realignment featuring an eight-class system.
