WASHINGTON — Dupont Circle is officially closed for WorldPride weekend. Police were in the area early Friday morning roping it off. The latest move comes after the original closure sparked backlash from neighbors, prompting a reversal from D.C.'s police chief.
Now it appears the temporary closure is back on. A spokesperson for the National Park Service told WUSA9 that the park would be closed from 5 a.m. on Friday to approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday.
On Tuesday, NPS spokesperson Mike Litterst said D.C. Police and U.S. Park Police requested to shut down the park because of a pattern of disorderly and destructive behavior during previous Pride weekends.
