Former Mooresville Commissioner and Fire Marshal Bobby Compton died Wednesday, according to the town of Mooresville.
Compton began his career with the Mooresville Fire Department as a firefighter EMT in December 1974, the town said in a press release. He was later promoted to fire marshal in 1988. He remained in that role until his retirement in May 2005.
In 2011, he was elected as a commissioner at-large to the Mooresville Board of Commissioners, serving until 2023. He ran unsuccessfully against current mayor Chris Carney in 2023.
