SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Some viewers report struggling to get insurance claims approved following the severe weather that occurred on April 29.

“You still have options. It might feel like a smack in the face,” said Lisa Gill with Consumer Reports.

First, double-check and make sure your policy covers the claim you’re making.

Next, did you submit enough info?

“The insurance company will not tell you they need five more pictures or a little more info. Often it’s a rush to denial. They just don’t want to deal with it and hope you’ll take the next course,” said Gill.

Consider hiring your own adjustor. You can find one through the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters.
