STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— This Saturday, McKee/Staten Island Tech will face Hunter College High School for the PSAL 2A Division Championship — a perfect opportunity for the Seagulls to complete an undefeated league season, avenge last year’s semifinal loss as the top-seeded team in the playoffs and bring home their first city title in school history.
MSIT hasn’t accrued a spotless PSAL record by simply eeking out wins over its opponents — on its way to a second straight perfect regular season and the No. 2 seed in this year’s playoffs. The Seagulls have outscored opponents by an average margin of 12 runs, a dominant run that has exceeded all expectations under head coach Jerold Sidman.
