LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Should a cable provider be able to add additional surcharges on consumer bills claiming they are interpretations of government standards? That is the question at a center of a locally-filed lawsuit against Charter Communications, Inc., also known as Spectrum Cable.
Richard Wookey has filed a class-action suit centered around a $28 monthly surcharge for re-transmission fees that appeared on his monthly statements. Those fees are said to be paid to local television stations, whose transmissions are carried on cable and satellite systems.
According to court documents obtained by WAVE, Wookey alleges that Spectrum misrepresents the surcharge as mandated by the Federal Communications Commission.
