LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - After a steamy start to the day, sunshine will help to warm temperatures quickly around the area. Highs reach the lower 90s this afternoon with little to help break the heat. An isolated storm will be possible, but most areas will miss out on any rain.

This weekend, the heat will continue around the area as temperatures both Saturday and Sunday reach the lower 90s. A few cooling storms will develop, especially Sunday, but again, most of the area will remain rain-free.

In the tropics, dry air and wind shear are preventing anything from forming in the Gulf, Caribbean, and Atlantic through the next week.

Locally, a big change in the weather pattern comes our way for next week as a weak front settles across the area. This will bring increased rain chances to the area
