After spending some time in community outreach, East Texas native Dameyun Thompson is returning to his roots in education.
And as a 4-H and youth development agent in Gregg County, he’ll have a lot of roots to work with. The program is known for its emphasis on teaching youth about agriculture, but Thompson will be doing more than that. He’ll be working with students at area schools to develop leadership expertise, foster character traits and learn practical life skills — the kind of roots young people need to thrive.
"I just enjoy helping students,” Thompson said. “I just enjoy helping people to learn and to achieve more in their life and to do better. And what better way to do that than education? Because, after all, when we know better, we do better.”
