|The latest law: Florida teens getting ready to hit the roads soon will face a new requirement.

Starting July 1, they’ll have to complete a driver education classroom course before being able to obtain a learner’s permit. Previously, they’ve only needed to pass a course on traffic laws and substance abuse.

Some schools, including Florida Virtual, already offer driver education. Many scaled back the program years ago as a cost saving measure.

FLVS instructor Debbie Adams told The Mirror that lawmakers “really got this right.” More from WEAR .
