NEW YORK – A federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order blocking the closure of Job Corps centers across the country, including the Delaware Valley Job Corps in Sullivan County.

“I’m glad the court did the right thing – because shutting down Job Corps centers would’ve been a major setback for Upstate New York,” said Congressman Josh Riley (D, NY-19), who pushed to keep them open and funded. “Job Corps gives young people a real shot at success, and I’ll keep working to protect it.”

According to data from the National Job Corps Association, last year, 75 percent of Job Corps’ nearly 50,000 enrollees entered employment or higher education after leaving the program.
