CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Dozens of Ardrey Kell High School parents took impassioned pleas to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education meeting Thursday night, demanding answers for why their former high school principal was suspended, before she retired.

Ardrey Kell High School Principal Jamie Brooks was suspended with pay on May 2nd, and weeks later announced her retirement.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools hasn’t said the reason for Brooks’ suspension, citing personnel reasons.

“We were shocked, we were devastated. I personally felt such a feeling of confusion and loss because I couldn’t figure out what had happened,” Karla Stovall, parent and president of the school’s Parent Teacher and Student Organization, said.
