LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Going to a fair is a summer staple. The food, the games, the entertainment, and, of course, the rides create lasting memories for everyone who goes.

The Bluegrass Fair kicked off on Thursday evening. This year, just as they have in the past, organizers are making sure the only screams you hear at the fair are ones of fun, not fear.

"If these rides were not safe, we would not open the front gate. Our number one goal is safety. We don't want anything to happen to anybody," said Mac Ferguson, chairman of the Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair.

Forty rides help to make up the fair, which is made possible not only by the Lexington Lions Club but also by Kissel Entertainment. A traveling amusement park that's made safety its top priority for generations.
