Finance advisers in Glasgow schools have managed to generate £5.27 million for parents in poverty over the last year.
The work of the financial inclusion support officers has been hailed as one of the best projects among the council's anti-poverty strategies to maximise income.
There are nine officers working in 50 schools who give advice and support to families on benefits they can claim as well as debt management.
A total of 832 families have been helped to gain the cash worth more than £5 million while 1,388 people used the service. Another 205 parents received assistance to manage £718,382 debt.
