YPSILANTI, MI — Ann Arbor Pioneer celebrated 438 seniors Thursday night in its Class of 2025 commencement ceremony.

The Pioneers were the last of the city’s three major high schools to cross the stage, at Eastern Michigan University’s George Gervin GameAbove Center during the district’s graduation week.

Second-year principal Desmond Smith delivered the first message to the class, calling on students to follow their hearts, make supportive friends and treat others with kindness.

“Find that group or find someone that encourages and motivates you to be what you want to be — to be who you want to be — and not someone else," he said.

During the ceremony, seniors and their parents were treated to performances by the school’s A Capella choir and Symphony Band.
