Buckle up, Atlanta. We are headed into a severe weather weekend and several soggy days.

Starting around 6 p.m. Friday, showers and storms will start creeping into northwest Georgia. The system, which is pushing in from the Tennessee Valley and Alabama, is expected to reach metro Atlanta closer to 11 p.m. or midnight, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Ashley Kramlich.

The state’s northwest corner is under a Level 2 of 5 risk for severe weather, and the metro area is under a Level 1 threat, according to the National Weather Service.
