The University of Michigan hosted a reception May 21 for “Moth Eden”, an exhibit by Ann Arbor artist Anne Erlewine displayed at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens until July 6. The exhibit features acrylic ink paintings on birch and oak wood that explore the conceptualization of the female body through natural metaphors. During the reception, about 20 attendees mingled with Erlewine while enjoying refreshments and browsing the artwork on the walls.
In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Erlewine said the exhibit focuses on presenting the female figure as revered rather than objectified as it is elsewhere.
