PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Senator Jack Reed is holding a press conference later Friday, hoping to put pressure on the Trump administration and federal Republicans to not cut federal SNAP benefits.
The current budget, Reed said, would result in $300 billion of cuts to the food assistance program.
That would lead to seven million people nationwide, and 17,000 Rhode Islanders, losing access to their benefits.
Reed, and reps from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and local food pantries, will be speaking at 11:45 a.m.
