HAMMOND, La. (WVUE) - A Hammond driver is accused of hitting a child who had just bought ice cream at a truck last saturday.

Officials say the child is not hurt.

Deputies say just before 5 p.m. last Saturday (May 30), Lance Paul hit the child on Saint Paul Loop in a speeding car.

They say he called 911, but left the area because he felt threatened.

Benjamin and Sandra Guillot own Captain’s Tasty Treats in Hammond.

The girl was buying a treat from their ice cream truck.
