GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Former Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley employee Robert Dinkins was arrested in Georgia for six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on Thursday.

The former GCMS 8th grade teacher and coach was previously placed on administrative leave for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a student. Just a few weeks later, Dinkins was terminated from his positions with the district after a unanimous vote from the school board.

Police said in a release that during the investigation, they seized his phone and other electronics, and found information that supports he engaged in sexual activities with a high school student.

He is now being held in Macon, Georgia, and he will be transported back to the Ford County Jail to await a judge.
