Scientists at the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University in Israel have discovered that neutrophils, a type of immune cell, play an important role in breast cancer tumor progression. These findings, say the researchers, could make neutrophils important drug targets and biomarkers for advanced breast cancer.
In 2022, there were an estimated 2.3 million new breast cancer cases , and approximately 670,000 deaths resulted from female breast cancer. Although breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer deaths in women, as well as the second most common cancer worldwide, the complex molecular and cellular signaling that causes and promotes breast cancer remains elusive.
Therefore, in their study, published in the journ
