ONEIDA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- The local troop of the New York State Police will be under new management after an announcement on Thursday.
According to a statement from New York State Police Superintendent Steven James, Major Kevin Reilly is the new Commander of Troop D, which includes Herkimer and Oneida Counties. His commission as Troop D Commander was effective as of the announcement on Thursday, June 5.
Major Reilly is from Geneseo and is a 2008 graduate of SUNY Albany. He has worked as a state trooper since 1996. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2013.
He was named station commander of the State Police station in Rochester in 2003, and has been the Zone One Commander of Troop E for the last ten years.
Major Reilly will replace Major Robert Simpson, who has been reassigned
