William “Bill” Matthews (Amory Funeral Home)

William “Bill” Matthews, 91, passed away peacefully at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, the morning of May 29th, following a serious bacterial infection.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Adeline, his parents James “Frank” and Ruth and brothers John “Jack” and James “Jim”.

He is survived by his son James “Jim,” also of Yorktown. He is also survived by his niece, Cathy Dudak, and her daughter Stephanie Bell (husband Stewart) of Fallon, NV, and other friends in Hampton Roads and in Boston.

Bill grew up in the Boston area and earned a BS from Tufts University and an MS from Northeastern University, both in mechanical engineering. Bill became a resident of Yorktown in 1993, when he was transferred to the
