CHEBOYGAN — A report of an assault with a crossbow in Cheboygan on Thursday, June 5 led to a standoff between law enforcement and three individuals.

Just before 5 p.m., officers from the Cheboygan Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated assault with a crossbow in the 400 block of North Ball Street. Officers attempted to contact a suspect at the residence.

According to the Cheboygan Police Department, the suspect refused to exit the home and speak with officers. There were two additional individuals inside the residence and both of these individuals also refused to exit the home.

Additional resources from the Northern Michigan Emergency Response Team were called in and contact was established with the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8
