SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

An apartment building caught fire Friday morning in the North Highlands area of Sacramento County.

Fire crews were dispatched around 3:47 a.m. to the Garfield Village Apartments located on Garfield Avenue south of Auburn Boulevard and north of Madison Avenue.

A vegetation fire spread from a tree to the attic of the apartment complex, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said. The fire was knocked down quickly and kept from spreading further.

Some residents were evacuated, but most have since been allowed to re-enter the building, the fire district said. Three apartment units were affected. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
