At the end of May 2025 , there were 756,198 (35.43%) active voters registered as nonpartisan. This is larger than the number of those registered as Democratic or Republican by more than 125,000; 614,996 (28.82%) Democratic, 614,586 (28.80%) Republican.
Had it not been for these voters, it is highly unlikely that Gov. Lombardo, Lt. Gov. Anthony or Controller Matthews would have been elected; the GOP voter share at the 2022 election was just under 30% while these three received 49% or more of the vote.
Why, then, did Nevada’s Republican legislators just tell the largest and most influential group of voters they do not matter ?
Speaker of the Assembly Steve Yeager, although a strong opponent of Question 3 in both 2022 and 2024, stated that it’s time for legislators to formally re
