Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting incident in Kitchener.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to reports of gunshots near Monte Carlo Street and Victoria Street South.

Investigators determined a male suspect approached a group of youths at a residential complex and fired multiple gunshots into the ground before running away. No physical injuries were reported.

Police believe this was a targeted incident.

The WRPS general investigations unit is continuing its investigation, and police will remain in the area throughout the day.
