Healthcare gained 62,200 jobs in May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is above the average monthly increase of 44,000 jobs over the previous 12 months. Healthcare gained 50,600 jobs in April, according to the bureau. Here are four other things to know from the June 6 report:
1. May job growth continued for hospitals and ambulatory healthcare services, which added 29,900 and 28,700 jobs, respectively. 2. Job growth also occurred in skilled nursing care facilities, which added 6,300 jobs last month. 3. Within ambulatory healthcare services, physician offices added 9,800 jobs in May, while home healthcare services added 12,300. 4.
