Volunteers are set to clean up along Shoal Creek Friday morning as part of the Shoal Creek Conservancy post-storm clean up.

Shoal Creek Conservancy Programs Director Maria Darr said their organization holds clean-ups at least twice a month to address the regular amount of trash that enters the creek through storm runoff.

“Our cleanups are incredibly important because they address several issues, things like removing pollutants from the creek and the riparian area,” said Maria Darr, the Programs Director for the Shoal Creek Conservancy.

They, however, have not done a post storm clean-up since August 2022.

“There was another large flood, where the storm surge was as high as 16 feet. The most recent storm, it got as high as 15 feet, so it was pretty similar.” said Darr. “After that storm,
