OKLAHOMA CITY — Mike White doesn’t mind rolling the dice in key moments but he crapped out during the fifth inning of a winnable Game 2 in the Women’s College World Series .

The Texas softball coach has made some memorable moves in this program rebuild, including the current campaign for its first finalist appearance but it’s the one he didn’t make that will stick in the craw of Longhorns fans if the program doesn’t close the show in Friday’s rubber match.

The 4-3 loss to Texas Tech wasn’t Texas’ cleanest effort, especially defensively on a fast Devon Park infield that plays more like Wimbledon grass than the French Open clay — but the loss stings more because White’s best pitcher Teagan Kavan sat longer than she should have.
