After joining The Herald-Times’ illustrious newsroom, we interns were tasked with writing a quick profile of each other. Here’s what we shared:

Deshna Venkatachalam, Indiana University sophomore

Deshna Venkatachalam grew up recording videos, making vlogs and writing stories. By the end of elementary school, she knew she wanted to write. By high school, that turned into writing for her school magazine.

“I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had another career that I wanted to pursue,” she said.

Now she’s going into her sophomore year at IU majoring in journalism and minoring in sociology. Her freshman year took her to the Indiana Daily Student covering diversity in one of the most important times in recent memory to do so. It’s worth noting that I (Andrew) was her editor there for a semester
