PROSPECT HEIGHTS — THE RESTORATION OF THE ICONIC SOLDIERS’ AND SAILORS’ MEMORIAL ARCH AT GRAND ARMY PLAZA was celebrated on Thursday, June 5 with a ribbon-cutting.
The NYC Parks Department and the Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit organization that operates Prospect Park in partnership with the city, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to showcase the monumental public artwork’s first significant restoration in 50 years.

Restoration of this landmark, and of the surrounding plaza and berms, included replacing the roof and reinforcing the historic structure, as well as repointing its beautiful granite stonework to remove years of build-up, staining and spa
