PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is in custody after police say he assaulted a Philadelphia firefighter and then barricaded himself inside a home.

It happened in the 7100 block of Jackson Street in the Tacony section of the city.

According to police, it all began around 9:50 a.m. when a hazmat lieutenant with the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to a 311 call about a man pouring diesel fuel on his front lawn.

"The fire lieutenant was assaulted by the occupant of the house in question," said Lt. Christian Duchossios with the Philadelphia Police 15th District. "Fortunately, he wasn't injured, but he was placed in a chokehold and thrown out of the house."

The man then locked himself inside the home.

Police declared this a barricade incident and called for the SWAT team.
