Dalton officials are reminding residents about the city’s rules for trash pickup as sanitation crews see more and more prohibited items being left at the curbside.

The Dalton Public Works Department provides curbside garbage, recycling, and bulky item refuse and yard trimming collections for residents; however, officials say there are certain items that aren't allowed to be left by the curb.

Some of those prohibited items include:

Construction or remodeling debris (wood boards, broken concrete, bricks, rock, or fixtures such as sinks, toilets, or cabinets)

Cardboard boxes

Packing material

Paint in liquid form

Hazardous materials

Tires

"They're seeing a lot of construction materials like 2 x 4s and that kind of thing," said Dan Lewallen, Dalton's Code Enforcement Unit supervisor. "
