MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a closure in Murphysboro for westbound Illinois 149 from 5th Street to 7th Street starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 9. This closure is necessary for reconstruction and will last until 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 14.

IDOT says the closure is necessary to reconstruct the westbound lanes.

This was originally set for early June but was postponed due to inclement weather.

During this period, eastbound Illinois 149 will remain open but will be reduced to one 10-foot-wide lane. Illinois 127 (5th Street) will not be affected. A marked detour will guide drivers around the closure.
